For my part, I have to say that this class opened my eyes to many things.
First, it taught me that marketing online was much more than designing/owning a website. I hadn't realized the whole intertwined underlying mesh of social media and how management could interact online with customers.
Second of all, I realized that there is a new type of luxury (affluent) consumer and that old luxury marketing based on heritage-oriented values. I knew the existence of green marketing and selling strategies oriented towards ecology but I learned that the new consumer cares about the community, sports, culture, arts, and more.
Third of all, I learned that communications go much faster than before, that is why managers should have a plan to manage brand reputation on a daily basis.
Fourthly I learned about the challenges of creating an exclusive experience on a highly available and public media; the internet.
The fifth thing I learned is that digital marketing can actually be "local" through the SOMOLO concept and more interactive than I thought.
I am really thankful for this course, because I am now aware of the new dimension marketing is taking.
