Since March 2011, the Eastern Airways company will now link the Bordeaux region with Dijon targetting clients from foreign markets. This is a new dimension for French wine tourism, especially with the aim to become a new type of luxury tourism.
For example spending one evening in each wine-producing region of France to discover the best wines by staying in the most luxurious places, for example a stay in an authentic "chateau".

This will also have the aim to bring locals from the Bordeaux region to the Bourgogne vineyards and vice-versa, increasing cooperation between wine tourism regions.

The Bourgogne and the Bordeaux regions, on two different sides of France, have long been in competition with each other. However dating back to at least the year 2000, these French vineyards have been suffering from large-scale cooperatives in the New World often leading to a crisis situation.

This type of luxury tourism is a great idea to develop. Especially since some French wine-producing regions are more affected by the wine crisis than others. For example, the Beaujolais region has been more hit than the Bordeaux region. Through this type of cooperation, and for one common vacation-package price, producers of both regions will benefit.
Innovating with this type of luxury tourism is a wonderful solution to compete with large vienyards from throughout the globe.

  1. For people who enjoy wine it will be interesting and innovating to propose the weekends in different vineyards throughout France adding a luxury 'chateau' style accommodation. Perfect for the traveler who enjoys a luxury style wine degustation and for the wine producer it could be a way to attract new customers.
